REGISTER VARSITY PLAYERS

Anyone who is currently in 8th grade and 8th grade will be participating on the Jv team.  Anyone currently in 10th grade or 11th grade will be participating on the varsity team.  I you were a 9th or 8th grade athlete that played on varsity this past season you will be participating on the varsity team.

The success of any program is the amount of work put in on the “off season”.  I believe that anything done out of season directly impacts the success of a program, as well as strengthens programs integrity.  It is imperative to a program’s success that we keep investing time and effort.  Over the past few years we have participated in the Brookhaven summer league.  As this has been very functional, I have reservations if this has been beneficial to our team growth.  I have had this discussion with Ward Melville’s, Mt. Sinai’s and we have developed what we believe to be an improved team instructional plan.  We have created a training coalition.   Our plan is to meet two mornings weekly.  Once per week we will meet at SWR to do a 90-minute practice.  On the second day a week we will meet at Mt. Sinai where we will have shortened games against Mt. Sinai, Ward Melville, and at times other visiting teams.  These games will have officials.  These trainings and scrimmages will occur during the early mornings instead of at night.  Having these trainings and games occur at this time is to ensure that no travel team, or other commitment interfere.  I am hoping every player will attend.

I realize that there are several variables that can impact an athlete participating in an off-season program.  I am sensitive to circumstances such as finances, other sport commitments, work commitments, family vacations, and how all can impact participation.  This program is just an opportunity for our athletes; it is by no means an evaluation of commitment to the program.  There will be an opportunity for athletes to participate À la Carte if necessary.  Anyone who needs any consideration just needs to speak to me directly so we can figure out how to make sure your athlete can partake in the program.   It will be open to anyone who wishes to participate; there will be no “tryouts”.

Sincerely,

Coach Taylor
