We wanted to thank our family, friends, neighbors and SWR community for all their love and support during this very difficult time. We continue to truly appreciate the generosity not only given to our family, but to our football family as well.
For those of you who may not have known Thomas, he was a truly amazing and unique person. He was a selfless person who always went out of his way to lift someone’s spirits, let them know they were important, let them know he was there for them. He just knew, he just understood and he never took anything for granted. Thomas loved his friends, cherished his family and valued his country. He touched so many lives and we know that he will continue to touch more lives each and every day.
Thomas was tragically taken from us after getting hit during a Varsity football game. The outpouring of love and support we received was tremendous. A scholarship fund under The SWR Wildcat Athletic Club / youcaring.org has been set up to honor Thomas and all that he stood for. To help another student that exemplifies Thomas’s character and morals would not only be an honor to recognize, we treasure the opportunity to help them in some way achieve their goals and dreams.
Thomas was always a giver with tremendous leadership qualities in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the community. He had many ideas and dreams of his own. This was the only draft we found on Thomas’s computer and we felt obligated to share it. This was a club that he wished to have started. Maybe people in your own community could implement the idea and start some type of club in Thomas’ name in their own school. It went as follows….

I have an idea for a club. I did some research and on one of my nexus trips, my peers and I visited the Stony Brook Veterans Home. It was an enjoyable experience and good friends were made. I think that we could create a club in which we raise money for veterans of all ages, and also set up trips to visit the residents, which are only there from the hours 8:30-5. It was a great experience for me, and my peers, but also for those who are at the home. I remember their excitement to have visitors, people to listen to their stories, to laugh with, and to spread their wise knowledge with. I realize this would need approval by the school and the veteran’s home, but it is something I am willing to take the reins of. I will spread the word of the club; if it’s approved and then appoint positions. These would be filled by those possessing the necessary qualities needed. As creator, I would be the president and head the meetings. I also understand transportation might be of the issue, but hopefully the mini bus used for nexus would be usable. If not I may be able to find other means of transportation. I can contact their administrative services as soon as I get the green light from whoever has to approve. If I need a teacher or administrator, I'm positive I can find someone. I feel this is a smart and useful club, and to give back to those who gave so much, puts a smile on their face and those who spend time with them. After all “You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”
~ Winston Churchill
It was in the beginning stages, but Thomas would have been honored to see people go forward with his idea in his name. He said it best in his ending remark.
Thank you all again for your continued love and support. Together as a family and community we hope to continue to try and heal. Please keep Thomas' legacy alive and be the best you, that you can be.

Dear Team 91 Family,
In the wake of last week's tragedy, Shoreham-Wading River has set up a scholarship fund in the HONOR of the young man that lost his life this past week doing what he loved. Tom Cutinella tragically lost his life playing football. In addition to playing football, he was also a lacrosse player in SWR. Many of our families share a strong bond to Tom Cutinella and his family.
In his honor the SWR Booster Club has set up a scholarship fund in Tom's name. Team 91 will be supporting this scholarship and it would mean a lot to of us and the Cutinella family if anyone in our organization can support it. It is obviously a very difficult time for his family and community so any donation that you can make would be greatly appreciated by all.
Please consider visiting www.swrwac.org and making a donation in the young man's name. EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS. Thanks for your consideration.
